Log the practice you already do: lessons, podcasts, books, conversations. Keep notes, and watch it add up.
One place for everything you practice
Sorrel turns scattered study into a record you can read. Log a session, keep a note, and your week, skills, and progress fill in on their own.
Your whole week in one view
Every session lands on a simple grid across your skills and days, so balance and gaps are obvious at a glance.
One journal for all of it
Sessions, sources, notes, and key learnings in a feed you can actually re-read later.
Progress you can show
Active days, total time, and skill balance, plus teacher-ready PDF reports you can hand over.
Quick to log, easy to keep up
Run the built-in timer or add a finished session by hand. The timer keeps counting through backgrounding and relaunch, so the total stays honest.
- ✓ Log by skill, or time a focused session
- ✓ Add a source, notes, and key learnings
- ✓ An optional mood, never required
Read your progress, not just a streak
Insights show consistency, balance across skills, and total time against the period before. An optional level journey frames a next milestone as a practice guide, never an exam.
- ✓ Active days, sessions, and average duration
- ✓ Skill balance ranked across your practice
- ✓ An optional CEFR level journey
Hand your teacher a real record
Generate a teacher-ready PDF and a share image, both made on your device. Pick a period, choose what to include, and send it.

Honest about your data
Sorrel is local-first, but it is not a closed box. Here is exactly what stays on your device and what does not.
Your study history lives on your device. It syncs only to your own private iCloud, and only if you turn sync on.
We use Firebase to understand how the app is used and to catch crashes. No ads, no IDFA, no cross-app tracking, and a toggle in Settings.
Subscriptions go through Apple; RevenueCat manages access. We never see your payment details.
Questions
Is Sorrel a course or a teacher?
No. Sorrel is a diary for the practice you do anywhere, with anyone. It records and organizes your study; it does not teach lessons or replace a tutor.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in. Sorrel works locally on your device, with optional iCloud sync if you want your diary on more than one device.
Does it work offline?
Yes for logging and your journal. iCloud sync and purchases need a connection, but the core diary does not.
What does Sorrel collect?
Anonymous product analytics and crash reports through Firebase, which you can turn off in Settings, and purchase data through RevenueCat and Apple for subscriptions. Your diary content is not sent to the developer. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
Is my study history private?
It is stored on your device and mirrored only to your private iCloud if you enable sync. It is not uploaded to the developer and is not part of any analytics data.
Which languages does it support?
You can keep a diary for any language you study. The app interface is localized into 17 languages.
